Over

Spring break is over.  I am not happy about it.  Our schedules are so busy that we really didn't do a whole lot.  But that's OK.  Thursday we left for soccer practice early and saw a movie.  It was funny watching Jason react to the snack bar.  In our little town we have a little theater and I mean little. At times I felt like I was taking the country mouse to visit the city mouse.

We also had some time to cruise the city and look at the places we spent so much time at while we lived there.  We went and checked out the theater of performing arts and other places that Jason loves.  It looks like once we are done with soccer we will still be making the trip for Jason.  He will be taken some acting classes and voice lessons.  He is really looking forward to it.

As we start the last couple of months for school, there are so many things that we will be deciding for next year.  Will Jason continue with homeschool (me as teacher) do we move him to online school or does he finally go to the public HS.  We are pretty sure he won't be doing public HS next year.  We have a lot of traveling we are planning next year and we won't be able to do it if he is in traditional school.  One thing I love is all the educational options open to parents now.  Jason would like to go back to public school at some point, but also wants to do all the things we have planned.

Spring

Yesterday was beautiful.  The sun was out the birds were singing.  We were sitting inside the opera house watching kids.  I planned to get a few things done today outside.  Was really looking forward to being out in the sunshine.  Nope......it rained and rained hard.  From the looks of our forecast, it will be raining all week.  I have lots to do inside, I just don't want to do any of it.

Can watching everything on your DVR be consider as cleaning up and organizing?  I think so.

Forgotten Password

It has been so long since I posted I had forgotten my password.  It's not just this blog that has been neglected, but my camera too.  I actually had to dust it off.  Something that has never happened before.  I take this as a sign that things are changing in my house.  The kids are getting older and starting to make their own lives in the world.

Anthony has moved out and talking about leaving our small town.  It has taken a little bit but he might have found something he is really interested in.  He found that he really loves fighting forest fires and wants to make that more of a career.  He found a college about 6 hours from here and is thinking about moving there this fall.  So happy for him that he has found want makes him happy.

Megan is still heading off to another state to play soccer.  She is happy to be back on their team.  She is also helping coach a select team here.  I can't believe this kid is graduating from high school this year.  We are really looking forward to everyone being here and having a great party.  She also will be celebrating her 18th birthday this August.  We are going to celebrate a few weeks early and combine it with a goodbye party.  My eyes are already getting teary because I can't believe she will be leaving us.  Megan is going to live out her dream and join the US Navy.

Yes, she has already been sworn in.  She will leave in August for the Great Lakes and graduate sometime this Fall.  She will stay in Great Lakes for her training and then sometime next winter she'll be assigned a fleet.  This kid knows exactly what she wants to do and knows what to do to get there.  Once she is out, she is planning on being a teacher.  However, her plan at the moment is to make the military her career.

Jason landed a part in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.  He is loving every minute of it.  The show started the first weekend in March and runs through April 4th.  I thought I was ready for the demands of the  theater.  After all, I have spent the last 20 years doing sports.  The days and weeks are long, but completely worth it.  This play is being done in a nearby town with a population of about 1000.  Everyone who has seen a show done here will tell you how good they are.  This show is no different.  The local Lyons club built the car and it's amazing.  Not at all what you would expect from a small town show.  We are so thrilled that Jason is a part of it.

Here he is as a Morris Man in the "me old bamboo" left side in the back.  I have seen this dance being learned and even during dress rehearsal week, we just weren't sure it was ever going to come together.  OMG.....it is amazing.  I think this number gets the loudest applause.

The Bombi Somba.  He is on the right side.  This picture was done on the last night of rehearsals.  That is why some of the costumes are not completed yet.

So there is absolutely no free time in this house.  I voleentered to help with the little kids before and during show time.  There are 35 kids under 12 in this play and about 10 are kids of the performers.  On Saturdays we get there at 1pm and leave at night around 10:30.  We also do a show on Friday that I help with.  The kids are a blast and I love working with them.

So that is how I am spending my free time and some of the reasons why this blog has suffered.  The weather is getting nicer and I vow to get my camera out and start taking some pictures.  Hopefully I will start posting here as well.

Happy Spring!!!!!!
