A Stevie Update

Steve had his hernia surgery today. It was not the typical hernia surgery this one was very intense and pretty major.

He came through surgery fine but the poor guy is in a lot of pain today. When I brought Megan and Jason over tonight to say good night, he was looking much better. I was a little bugged that his dinner of jello and clear chicken soup came when I was gone with the kids. I wasn't there to force him to eat so he didn't and his tummy was bugging him tonight. It's the Portuguese in me, I sounded like my Aunt Lou tonight. "Are you hungry, you need to eat something, are you sure, just a bite."

Some small town stuff from today: We know Steve's nurse's father, One of the surgery nurses son plays baseball with Anthony, ran into Jason's Sunday school teacher from last year, ran into Megan's soccer coach twice on my way to the cafeteria and saw a friend rush into ER with his teenage daughter and I have not had time to get a hold of them to see if she is OK.

That is it for tonight. I am going to put the two youngest to bed and fall asleep in my chair waiting for Anthony's bus to get in. He had a baseball game in Idaho tonight.

Snow

It's the end of spring break. I can't believe how fast it went by. How are we going to spend the last day you ask? Doing nothing.

We had a major storm last night and got a couple of inches of snow. The wind was really bad and it was difficult to get a good night sleep. Well, at least for me and the boys. Steve and Megan had no trouble at all.

Needless to say, we won't be going far from home today. Snow tires have to be off our cars by this Tuesday. We got a little jump on the crowds and had it done yesterday. We can make the passes without the snow tires, but why. I am sure one more lazy day around the house will be fine.

Anthony has gotten his cast off and has been working all week trying to get all his strength back. I have all the bruises to prove how hard he has been working. He looks good and is excited to start batting practice this week.

Steve has to go in for surgery on Tuesday. He will spend a couple of days in the hospital and a couple weeks in bed. Of course, Tuesday happens to be the busiest day of the week for us. Jason will be receiving an award in Cub scouts. Soccer for Megan starts, Anthony will be out of town at a BB game. Jason will also start BB practice this week. Yes, it all happens on Tuesday. Yeahhhh for me.

I will post some pictures from our trip to the zoo later this week.
Have a good and lazy day today.

Megan's Confirmation

Here are the eagerly awaited pictures from last Saturday. Megan did really well and even answered some of the Bishops questions. The Bishop is a good guy and really good with the kids. Jason was introduced to the Bishop as a future priest. Megan really needs no introduction, she just has this way about her. Anthony, well we will talk about him in a minute.

I love the way the kids have a relationship with the priest's in our parish. They are completely comfortable talking and joking around with them. We miss Fr H., the only priest I have ever threatened to give a time out too if he didn't stop stealing Jason's Cheetos. Anthony really enjoys playing ping pong with them and comes home with some great stories.

Megan and K her sponsor. K is an absolute sweetheart and Anthony's best friends sister. She regularly threatens Anthony with bodily harm. She, of course, would never do it herself. She is close friends with "M" a really big senior that loves to pick on freshmen. Anthony and M get along but Anthony knows where he belongs on the food chain.

Anthony and the Bishop. Anthony's job was to hold the Bishops hat. It's one of those that pops open. Which Anthony kept popping open and closed during mass. We where waiting for him to accidentally let go and shoot it across the alter. He wasn't the only one. H, Anthony's best friend, was letting go of the Bishops staff and catching it lower and lower. Trying to see how far he could go before dropping it. D, our deacon, was breaking out in a cold sweet thinking what would happen if that staff hit the ground. He made eye contact with Anthony to tell him to stop, Anthony grabbed the hat like it was a Frisbee and pretended to through it at D.

Earlier in the evening Anthony and H where pretending to be Batman in the Sacristy when the Bishop came in. He has a good sense of humor and pretended to hit them with his staff. It might be the last time they are asked to help.

Confirmation
Megan and her friends. Girl on the end is one of her best friends. The funny thing about the boy at the end of the table, is he is a male version of her. They hated each other in 3rd grade and now are really good friends.

WOW!! It's been awhile

Megan will be celebrating her Confirmation this Saturday. We had to make a trip in Washington to find a dress for her. It's a two hour drive but it is the closest mall to us. There is also a Costo there as well. I think we beat our record for money spent. We needed everything.

Anyway, the Bishop will be here Saturday afternoon. Louise and I will be giving him a tour of our little preschool. Steve came up today to give us a hand rearranging bookshelves and things. The classroom looks great. Since it's the beginning of spring break, none of our students will be there. We decided to video tape them singing the Bishop a song. It turned out very cute. I am not even sure the kids know who the Bishop is. We only have one Catholic in the bunch.

Anyway, here is a couple of pictures of Megan. I will have a lot more after the weekend.

She Has Her Own Style

Megan has always had her own sense of style. Even when she was little. I would dress her in the cutest little dresses and she would insist on wearing hiking boats with them.

We went to a Estate sale and she found these. The vest she found at the Church rummage sale.
Megan2
They tease me about being cheap, but she only spent $1.50. The funny thing is the jackets don't
belong to another kid, they belonged to a 90 year old woman. The yellow jacket is really pretty old.

Speaking of church rummage sale. Steve and I came home with some great finds. One was a cute desk for the kids room. It was kind of sad. We took down Jason's train table to make room for the desk. My baby isn't a baby anymore.

Here is one of Anthony and his cast. He gets it off on March 23rd. It is killing him that he is not practicing with his team. He also has to miss the world wrestling tournament in Reno. I wasn't real happy about that either.
