Summer Break Begins

As usual, summer break begins with soccer.  The high school team is beginning it's training season with some friendly tournaments.  Both of these where in the Tri-Cities.  Last week it was cold and rainy and this one was hot and sweaty.  Last week I was prepared this week I forgot everything.  We also decided to celebrate Fathers Day while we were there.  It's always nice to take a hot sweaty hungry bunch out to a nice dinner.  Cranky cranky cranky, until we all started eating.  Then we relaxed and had a good time.

This tourney is very much like the one we do in Yakima every year. It's a 5v5, 15 minute halves, very few rules, smaller goals smaller fields and very intense play. Being it was almost 100 degrees and we are used to 60's it was very tough on our girls. They started playing Friday night and finished at 5pm on Saturday. 6 games total.

She noticed that I was taking her picture, and the ball was on the other end of the field. Can you tell how camera shy she is?

I thought that once Anthony finished up with sports our schedule would losing up. Boy was I wrong. Megan has completely filled it with soccer. She begins her regular summer HS soccer workout out with the team 3 days a week.  She starts her summer rec league practice in two weeks.  She plays all her rec games in July plus is doing another HS tourney in July.  She has been invited to play with a Hood River team this summer.  She will go to a couple of their practices then play in two tourneys with them in July and August.  She gets a week off from all sports the first week of August.  Then begins daily doubles for the HS team.  Not to mention she has signed up to work with a former coach on a physical therapy project.  The project is to work with a few girls to teach them exercises that focus on knees and how to prevent ACL injuries.  ACL injuries are on the rise in HS aged girls.  It doesn't surprise me after watching these girls play this weekend.
