Almost Over

Yep, wrestling season is just about over. We head out tomorrow to watch the last tournament. He was nervous today because they upped his weight to 145. The kid only weights 138. If he does really well he could go on to state and earn his varsity letter. As much as I dislike this sport I have to admit the last couple of meets have been really fun. I am proud of his effort and how far he has come.

So you would think that with wrestling almost over we would be looking forward to our break from sports. Nahhhhh, not in this house. Baseball starts on Monday for Anthony, Little league for Jason in a couple of weeks and Megan will start spring soccer. Just for the record, high school football never ends. He is still working out in the mornings even though he doesn't have to.

With all the budget cuts they are making in Oregon, there is no money for sports. I am sure there is none for band, drama and all the other stuff as well. I just don't have any kids there. So we are also in a constant state of fund raising.

More important then sports our schools are in serious trouble. The state has been talking about closing the schools at the end of April. They are hoping that the Fed money will be enough to keep them open. My children have suddenly begun to believe in the power of prayer. Since the announcement of the possible early closures the kids have been praying regularly.
